Building a Static Page with Hybrid News Theme in Wordpress
?reate a site with a static page and more with the Hybrid News Theme.
The Hybrid Theme, developed originally by Justin Tadlock, opens doors to a variety of possible layouts - all easy to change and to adapt through child themes. In this article, Linda shows how to create a site with a static page and more with the Hybrid News Theme.
Hybrid and its Kids
NOTE: If you do not want to use any Hybrid Theme, you still can follow along. This tutorial consists of working with WordPress functions , including how to create a static page on a new Web site (the same tutorial would work for an existing site that you want to change – but a warning: The site I'm working with for this particular article has no content yet). The ability to use a static page for your Web site is ideal for anyone who does not want to blog, yet who wants to create a solid CMS for that Web site.
Go ahead and join the Hybrid Theme Club now, while membership is $0. While you can gain access to all the Hybrid Theme Club themes without a membership, membership allows you to gain access to all the tutorials as well as to the problem-shooting forums. Plus, if you are a developer, you might enjoy the interaction available for development of child themes based upon Hybrid.
If you are not a developer, I'm going to walk you through some options available through Hybrid, mainly through the Hybrid News Theme. While I love the simplicity of the Hybrid Theme, I really love the Hybrid News Theme, as it offers a layout similar to a news or magazine layout...all with widgets and Hybrid Hook options.
