Am I missing something? How do I use the form validator to check that the captcha has returned an ok response? The lack of documentation is surprising since the price of the extension is inline with most of your other extensions that are more robust and have better documentation.

The DMXzone reCAPTCHA extension works great with the Validator. You just apply the validator to the form you are using. You can place DMXzone reCAPTCHA anywhere in this form.
Universal form validator is not used to validate the DMXzone reCAPTCHA field. It has its own validation if the entered text is correct.
