Working WordPress to SEO Advantage
The final steps to making your blog SEO friendly
One of the final steps to making your blog SEO friendly is to use WordPress tools to push that blog over the edge. In this article, Linda shows you how to get that WordPress SEO advantage.
Using Theme Hybrid
Now, switching back to Theme Hybrid, specifically the Hybrid News Theme, you might see why I prefer to use this format for SEO purposes. While this theme carries the same possibilities as the default template, I also have a few other choices to help push that blog entry to the top of search engines:
In the image above, I scrolled down a bit to show the "Hybrid Post Settings" that appears above the "Excerpt" option in the Hybrid News theme. Hybrid post settings work just much the All in One SEO Pack plugin that many people use to gain SEO traction for their blog posts.
Notice in the Hybrid post settings that you have room for a title, description and keywords, just like the options offered by SEO Pack. You can alter the title to reflect keywords or key phrases, and use the description the same way that you would use the excerpt. Many times, I simply copy and paste the excerpt to the description to save time, but you can use other keywords and keyword phrases in that description.
I also use the same keywords for tags, so that I can gain traction for those keywords and key phrases in both areas. There's something to be said for repetition, rather than using the shotgun approach. For instance...
In the image above, I've repeated the description in the excerpt, and I've repeated the keywords in the "Post Tags" section. If you can remember years ago, the search engines began to 'punish' people who would repeat key words and keyword phrases in type that wasn't legible, but that was included in the code. This repetition factor is much like that former practice, but it is not overdone, and it allows you to include your keywords and keyword phrases more often for leverage.
If you do not plan to use Theme Hybrid, then I suggest using the All in One SEO Pack to get the same traction.
