ASP Code inspector: When clicking on an asp object in the design mode, it would be great if I could directly modify the code inside the delimiters in the inpsector instead of having to also click the "edit" button, or switch to source view mode.

Have a smart script library instead of including the scripts on each page they are used on. And I say smart because UD should generate the scripts on the fly dependinging on what behaviours you use rather than dumping every script for every behaivor like Visual InterDev does in it's Script Library.

and most of all:MORE RELIABLE FTP! How many versions will it take to get it right???? I mean it's like if BMW or RollsRoyce just could not figure out how to make the cigarette lighters work properly in their otherwise perfect cars.

Now that macromedia owns allaire, why not fully integrate HomeSite into DreamWeaver and UltraDev, boosting the code editor and throwing out for once the need to use external html editors. They could put support for autocomplete in all major languages (ASP.Net(VB,C#,JScript), JSP, PHP, Client-Side JavaScript).

The only reason I registered at UDZONE was to add this wish to the "UltraDev 5 Wish List":

UltraDev (and other MM products) for Linux please!
(I know I am not alone in this wish.)

Also, built in query/expression builder.

And how's this for a monster wish:
Combine UltraDev/Flash/Generator/Fireworks into one godalmighty tool for Linux/Mac/Win!

expanded sql capabilities: multiple tables and queries, etc.

sitespring features built in. the check in check out features leave alot to be desired.

1.)PHP4+ support, MySQL connect, blah blah blah - WE ALL WANT THIS, so they like betta pay up! They know we want it too! Lets hope things popup well!

2.) internal FTP would be great w/a bit more optimized, especially when "including dependant files."

3.) More larger scale sizing of manageing sites - maybe folders w/independant internal sites (ie. virtual hosting, children/all, etc.)

4.) Add Table Names (if given) to <tag> status bar description (ie. instead of just <table> - <tbl: "mainTbl"> so easy to pick which table thats nested...and maybe short handing things (ie. <table> -> <tbl&gt, to fit more on the bar.

5.) Able to make a flatten HTML page for newsletters (email) - when I develop I use relative Urls for the images, etc..but when you email out, you need FULL path urls...so I'd like to see a feature that would take my FTP/Network location, then take a copy of the HTML page, and fill it w/full path urls, so I can send out a newsletter easily.

Mostly because Perl/CGI scheam doesn't fit in UD and Server Side Scripting. ASP,JSP,PHP,CF are all the same family : you integrate code directly inside HTML code.

The common gateway interface doesn't work that way at all. And usually these programms are absolutely not restricted by the Server so they can have full access to the server (Even if it is run with the same ID than the server, bad CGI or malicious code can do lot of harm to a server). For this reason they are usually placed on directories that are not in your root directory and are much much much much more protected than anything else.

New Features for UD5...well only a couple right now, so:
I would like to see a visual sql builder.
A larger status bar icon set that displays the tags, since you have to click in and out of them allot, they need to have a bigger target, but just the ones you have to hit, not the others, this way you will not have to hunt for them.

A reusable recordsset library for each site. Build the recordsets you will need for the site and store them in a library, then just drop the ones you need in the databindings window and off you go.

A button to toggle different view local servers, allowing you to be able to switch virtual domains without changing sites.

Better FTP, more clean up routins, like backup.

Some kind of context menu right click action that will show you associated references to that tag, script, asp code, what ever and then display the full info and examples in the reference panel

I hope that UD5 for Macintosh will be as well integrated into Mac OS X as the Windows version currently is. That is, it works with local data sources (ODBC and MySQL drivers, please!) and will do Live Data using the local Apache server (PHP and JSP, pretty please!). With the new Macintosh OS, there really shouldn't be the need for us Mac addicts to have an external server just to use the Live Data features.

I reiterate the calls for full ASP 3.0 and PHP 4.0 support.

I also ask that UD5 be HTML 4.01 and XTML savvy (Let's look to the future, guys!) In fact, it should use an XML par-ser with DTD's so it can par-se any W3C language out there (just download the DTD!)

And, perhaps my biggest secret longing is a real JavaScript editor, just like GoLive, complete with DOM tree views of a page.
