Updating a page with columns

I have a page with 3 columns that will need updating. Is there a way to do that? Or should I just update the page as if there are no columns? The page consists of lists of headings and links to documents.

This depends on how you have set up that specific page. Do all three columns come from one database field or are 3 different fields being used?
