If I am using dynamic data for my marker locations, how can I change the custom icon based on a field in the DB. So my data would have GPS location, and then have a field for icon type or something like that, so if it shows bicycle in the icon field, it would load the bicycle icon?

Right, I know where to add them. Lets say I have 4 types of map markers, bikes, boats, cars, houses and each one is going to have its own unique marker. So each table will have a field that will say bike, boats, cars or houses. How do I get it to show the unique marker for each one.

ie
If map_marker = "bike" then use bikemapmarker.jpg etc...

That is really easy. Just name your icons as the category is called. So if category is called bike, then the icon is bike.jpg.
