I don't usually use the Encrypt/Decrypt functions but wanted to try something....Encrypt seems to work but decrypt.....?
This is not for passwords by the way (nor does it have to be index-able/searchable.
I can not find any details on decrypt anywhere.
Scenario:
Encrypt Company Name with password.
Display encrypted Company Name decrypted.
Now encrypting seems to work fine but decrypting? I've tried doing it in the Action itself but this fails and I can find no other way of interacting with the encryption features any other way. It's not available through Text Data Bindings for some reason...?
Any advice appreciated.

Hi Dave,
The decrypt it is only available in Server Connect as it is usually used for transferring data on the serverside - like encrypting cookies etc.

Thanks Teodor!
That's a shame. It would be great if more could be achieved with this Extension. It has so many possibilities.

Hey Dave,
What's a shame? I really don't get what you need to do.
Encryption and decryption are serverside tools - what exactly do you need?

It's not really me that wants to do it. A client requested that items such as company names and addresses be encrypted and I thought I may be able to do it using this Extension. I've done it at the database level at the request of the client. It's not something I'd usually do. It would have been easier (me being lazy) to simply encrypt on form submit server side and decrypt on display client side using the Extension. I tried to decrypt in Server Connect inside the Action and then tried to display it client side via Insert Binding but it did not display anything. Just thought it might be useful to do it client side as well as server side.

You can use a repeater with a setvalue step inside in your server action. Apply decrypt in the setvalue step and then on the page bind it - it will show decrypted content.

Hey Teodor that is a really nice feature! Suprised there is no video on this aspect of this Extensions capabilities. I'd assume there are a lot of undocumented features throughout the Extensions. Would love to know more hidden gems!
