Now that I have this new software installed, do I still need the DMXzone updater extension too? They both do the same thing don't they?

No, you do no longer need the DMXzone Updater Extension,
With the DMXzone Extension Manager, installing and updating extensions is lots faster and with just a single click you keep your extensions up to date. No more login details and serial numbers are required when installing/updating an extension.

You don't need indeed the DMXzone Updater any more. The new DMXzone Extension Manager is a new slick and much more powerful replacement.

So you can just remove the DMXzone Updater from the installed extensions.

Thanks guys. Uninstalling the updater extension now... The new app looks slick! Sounds like it will be much easier to manage my 40+ extensions that I'm using on two machines with both CC and CS6.

Congratulations on a superb application. I am working off a laptop at the moment whilst the PCI-e SSD on my main computer is being replaced, a process which will take a couple of weeks yet. I have downloaded DW CC 2014 to it and was dreading having to load all the DMXzone extensions as I have a new site to work on and it can't wait until the main computer is back in commission. Having read this application was due out this week I decided to wait a couple of days to see if it lived up to its billing.

It does, some 70 or so extensions were installed in less time that it took me to go down and make a coffee. Came back upstairs to the laptop and they were all installed. Started DW and didn't have to spend an age putting in serial numbers, un and pw.

This application has saved me several hours of tedium and unproductive hours. When my main computer comes back it will save me yet more time. The only downer for me is that it will only handle the DMXzone extensions.

I do have one question for the DMXzone team about how these extensions are managed. Before this app, I got into the habit of deleting the winfile cache after updates on extensions were completed. It seemed to help keep things running smoothly in Dreamweaver. Is this still something to be concerned about or is this no longer necessary?

Clearing DW cache is not required when installing extensions. This is only required when/if Dreamweaver starts acting strange and displays some random error messages like: onLoad, onClick in any-file-name.html a js error ... etc.

We will definitely add more clearing cache and Dreamweaver restarting functionality to the DMXzone Extension Manager. So even more cool functionality is coming up!

As you said previously, I don't need the older DMXzone updater extension, but now that I have uninstalled it and replaced it with the new Extension manager, I am now getting this all the time in Dreamweaver.

Ok, while you're at it, maybe you can tell me if any of these issues with your new Extension manager will also be solved.

1: The Extension manager doesn't seem to be updating extensions. I loaded up the Adobe Extension Manager for CC 2014 and it shows an update is available for Font Awesome. However, in the DMXzone Extension Manager, it says all extensions are up-to-date.

2. I tried using the DMXzone Extension Manager for installing an extension I purchased in the past, but it doesn't seem to be working. It shows as installed in the DMXzone extension manager, but not in the actual Adobe Extension Manager.

1. Do not rely on Adobe Extension Manager anymore for any message regarding updates.
2. Which is the extension you are referring to?
Any updates available appear under the Updates tab.

I tried getting feed genie installed using the DMXzone extension manager. It's not installed.

What version of Dreamweaver are you using? Are you sure Feed Genie is not located under Server Behaviors > Add New > DMXzone > ?

I'm in Dreamweaver CC 2014.

I do see it in the menu as you described; it's there. How come it doesn't show up in the Adobe Extension Manager? Are there any downsides or ill side-effects of using the DMXzone Extension Manager instead of the Adobe one?

You do no longer need to open/check/use the slow and bloated Adobe Extension Manager when it refers to Dmxzone extensions as we are installing the extensions independently from it. All of the installed extensions and updates are properly listed in DMXzone Extension Manager.

One question: On Windows, I have my admin account, and about the only thing I do with that is install software. I presume that the new extension manager .exe file will need to be installed by the admin. In Dreamweaver with the admin logon, I have no sites set up and only a very few DMX extensions installed, including the old DMX Updater, but just enough free extensions to be sure it is working.
I do all my actual work under my ordinary user logon, where I have a dozen sites set up and a gazillion extensions and templates installed, mostly from DMX but some others, too. Will the DMX Dreamweaver extension manager want to update all the extensions on both user logon accounts? I need them updated only on the unprivileged user account, and it would be annoying to have to keep them all updated in the admin account as well.
