This extension lacks an essential feature nowadays: Responsive support, i.e. navbar switches between collapsed and horizontal mode depending on screen width. A similar behavior to the navbar on Bootstrap.

I completely agree. Even though your menu system offers great features its use is rather limited because it is not fully responsive.
I am not promoting these guys but have a look at their menu - it sizes perfectly:
