Is it possible to save the menu tree layout to an xml or text file in order to reuse in other designs?

In particular, I use slightly different designs for homepage and content pages but would like to use the same menu tree without having to rewrite both trees if I change something.

Dear Berthold,

You can just copy the code of the menu and its css file if changed and use them on any other pages.
