I wanted to stop the nagware message that's generated by the DMXzone Bootstrap extension to stop appearing when I start DW. I found the answer -- it involves digging into the config folder. POOR CHOICE; BAD DESIGN. Simpler: Put a checkbox in the alert that says "Do not remind me of this in the future." Every other developer does this; it's simple etiquette.

Can you please be a little more detailed about the message? DMXZone Bootstrap does not generate any messages.

It most certainly does. When DW is started, your extension opens several DMXzone files. One of them is dmxUpdChk_onOpen.htm, which contains the nagging message, complete with misspelling:

You haven't installed yet the new DMXzone Updater Extension!
We highly recomment it so you can always keep your extensions up to date!

Programs that issue messages that advertise more offerings from their authors are known as "nagware" and aren't appreciated by most users.

This message appears if you have not installed the DMXzone Updater and it is not a DMXZone Bootstrap message.

However we strongly recommend installing the FREE DMXzone Updater extension as it will automatically notify you when new versions of your DMXzone Extensions are available. You can choose to get a notification on a weekly or monthly base. This great tool list, what free updates are available for the extensions you already own.

If you really had bothered to read my original post, you would have seen this sentence:

Then in my second post, I name one of the files that the Bootstrap install created in my DW config folder, showing that I had found the source of the message -- from a DMXzone install. If you had really read what I wrote there, you would have seen that I knew how to disable the message. You missed the whole point of this posting -- etiquette.

And despite your claim, this was most certainly a Bootstrap message. It only began appearing after I added the extension, so there's nowhere else it could have come from -- the Bootstrap add-on! I believe that I should have the sole responsibility to check for software updates -- not the developer nagging me to do so. You do not include an easy opt-out to allow that. That shows that you have no respect for your users.

If this is how your organization wants to treat its users, then perhaps I have no need for your products and perhaps others may want to look for more respectful developers.
