I’m planning to move to Calgary sometime in the next few months, but I’m not sure if there’s an ideal time of year to make the move. I’ve heard winter can be tough, but my schedule is flexible, so I’m wondering if there’s a better season to move that could save me money or hassle. Does it make a difference when you move, and are there any Calgary companies that offer better rates depending on the season? I’d love to hear any insights or advice! Replies

Timing your move can definitely make a difference, both in terms of cost and convenience. In Calgary, winter moves can be tricky because of the snow and ice, but that’s also when moving companies tend to have more availability and sometimes offer discounts. On the flip side, summer is peak moving season, so prices are generally higher, and companies book up fast. If you can, I’d suggest moving in the spring or fall. The weather is more predictable, and the rates aren’t as steep as in the summer. As for companies, I used Space Movers when I relocated last spring, and they were fantastic. Here’s their website: https://spacemovers.ca/ What I liked about them is that they’re super upfront about their seasonal pricing. They even advised me to move in April rather than May to avoid the rush, which saved me some money. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you’re moving during the off-season, you can sometimes negotiate a better rate or get extra services thrown in, like packing or additional movers. But whatever you do, book as early as you can, especially if you’re moving in the warmer months—companies get booked up fast, and you don’t want to be left scrambling for a slot.
