Are there any known issues with iphone or ipad and app connect state management?

I have a shopping cart where a save an order id in a session variable as the user traverses the site.
When it is time to move to checkout they have to login or register.
The APP ID is the same on all pages so the sessions are maintained throughout.
When they login / register the order is updated with the user_id and they continue on.
With iphone the sessions don't appear to be set so that the order is never updated.
I don't have an iphone to test it but it works fine on a pc and my sony android phone with chrome.
I am waiting for the customer to provide more information and thought I would check to see if you knew of any issues on ios or with Safari.
