I just read your response to another post in the forum re: dmxbrowser2.dll - I consider this issue solved.

While trying to install Animated Thumbnail Gallery 2, Norton Security stops the full install due to security issues with “dmxbrowser2.dll”. SEE NORTON message below.

I need to know if this file is safe – or is it infected?

So I am uninstalling Animated Thumbnail Gallery 2 until I know if the file is safe, the extension will not work without the DLL.

Here is a link to the virustotal online scanner, if this makes you feel more comfortable..

You can see only "symantec (norton)" thinks there is something wrong with the file.

Teodor: I submitted a false positive report to Norton, but it would help if y'all would do it, too. I presume that Norton gives more weight to submissions that come from the software authors than submissions from weenie little end users.

To submit a false positive report, you need to know that the product Norton Internet Security detects the dmxbrowser2.dll as Suspicious.Cloud.7.F. The portion of Norton Internet Security that detects and quarantines the file is called File Insight. You also will need a copy of the .dll in a .zip or .rar file to attach, and also a cut-and-paste of the Norton Security Message that Larry Roberts submitted above. The place to submit a false-positive report is submit.symantec.com/false_positive/

On Sunday 1/18/2015 I received a response from Norton Antivirus, here is an excerpt.

FROM NORTON:
Upon further analysis and investigation we have verified your submission and, as such, the detection(s) for the following file(s) will be removed from our products:
8125C299723AFFA620C07500B65F4B92 - a89a1932bd3825309a604c3b3f4ea5dd1fdf95e4b26a9d80ddc3b9cf2eb104fc
The updated detection(s) will be distributed in the next set of virus definitions

Hope that helps others from having any issues. Sorry to jump on this, but I was just trying to keep my computer from having problems.

I got the same message from Semantec. They also included a link for software authors to participate in their "whitelist" program. It lets authors submit stuff to Semantec for inclusion on their "known-good" list to avoid this false-positive nuisance. submit.symantec.com/whitelist/
