I really like the way the new extensions work, and am impressed with how easy they are to build data driven pages, but I am concerned about how secure the content and the data sources are compared to how it's been done in Dreamweaver before.

I've done some of my own testing and it doesn't seem possible to backdoor into the protected files or the data sources, but I'm no hacker either.

Is there any information you can provide any background on how or if these new extensions provide better security for the web apps I'm building for my customers?

You should not be worried about the security. We are using a strong encryption and restrictions on server level.
