Woth bootstrap modal loging, Security provider executor keeps saying "Please choose a valid security provider." Which I have done several times now, but no joy

Do you have the Server Connect extension installed? I had exactly the same problem and put it down to that, which changes the behavior of this addon. Unfortunately there is no documentation for this

If server connect is installed, the security process has to be done there. But I haven't found, how I can add the modal form to the process.

Indeed the security provider should now be added through the server connect steps.
Later this week we will update its documentation, so you will learn step-by-step how to achieve this.
