Yes you can see the HTML5 Data Bindings also as a replacement of Feed Genie, but they also do much more than just providing feeds data.
The HTML5 Data Bindings use the Ajax way to load their data and also have the same presets for public feeds to connect to. So they can definitely do what the Feed Genie does. Data Bindings can also connect to any other data source and render its data on the client side and NOT like Feed Genie on the server side before the page is loaded in the browser.
