Can anyone tell me a way to preserve modifications I have made to DMXzone extensions CSS files when there is an update to the extension released?

Always the extensions overwrite existing files and I have to go back into CSS and make changes again...sometimes easy but sometimes so many modifications that it is many many minutes of work. I have tried saving CSS file with different name, but if you go in to edit the slider (for example) and the default CSS file is not there, it places it there and relinks to it...!!!

Is your question for Nivo Slider only or what other extension are you referring to?
