I can only give you my personal opinion. I have severe chronic pain(4 different types) and was on a strong narcotic for 12 years. I developed hyperalgesia which means these increased my pain and I had no where to turn. I was in agony and then heard about Kratom. I was impressed that it is a natural leaf. I now use it to control my pain and have a life because of it so for me it is a lifesaver.

From personal experience, yes, kratom is definitely addictive. I’ve been on and off it for 6 years.

A little background for you: I’ve been an addict my entire life. Went to treatment, got sober for 3 years, and kratom was what I fell off the wagon on. I started drinking but have been able to quit, but kratom was something I kept going back to.

Kratom has been reported to have varied effects. Stimulant-like effects include increased energy, alertness, and rapid heart rate. Opioid-like effects include relaxation, pain relief, and confusion. Researchers are studying what kratom does in the brain, what interactions it has with medications, and whether it’s helpful for medicinal uses. But studies are in the early stages.
