Hey everyone,

I’m fairly new to comic books and looking for some recommendations to get started. I’m open to all genres—superhero, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, etc.—but I’m particularly interested in character-driven stories and strong world-building.

I’d love something that doesn’t require a ton of prior knowledge but still offers a captivating read. Any suggestions for great entry-level series or graphic novels that could hook me in? Also, if there are any underrated gems, feel free to mention those too!

Appreciate your help in navigating this awesome medium!

If you're just starting with comics, I'd recommend checking out Saga. It's a blend of sci-fi and fantasy with amazing character development and world-building, so it’s great for newcomers. Sandman is another classic that mixes mythology, horror, and fantasy, offering a deeper, character-driven story. For something more superhero-focused, Invincible is fantastic—it’s a fresh take on the genre with strong character arcs and exciting plot twists. If you're exploring comic books, Locke & Key offers a captivating world with intricate storytelling. Lastly, Maus is a gripping, historical graphic novel that doesn’t require prior knowledge but leaves a lasting impact.
