Depot Role in Logistics?

I’m trying to understand the bigger logistics picture and keep coming across the term “container depot.” What’s their actual role in the logistics chain? Are they just for storage or do they do more behind the scenes?

I used to think they were just yards to park empty containers too, but they actually do inspections and repairs in most cases. It’s more of a holding and prep spot before the next move.

Yeah, depots play a big support role. They help clear up space at ports and make sure containers are ready to go for their next job. Super important in keeping things flowing smoothly, especially for exporters and truckers.

Hey! I dove into this recently while working on a shipping project. Container depots are key for organizing and streamlining logistics. They’re not only about storing containers but also about prepping them for transport, handling documentation, and saving costs by reducing port congestion. I found Pelican Containers super helpful — they explain in their blog what is a container depot https://pelicancontainers.com/uncategorized/what-is-a-container-depot-save-money-on-container-trading-storage and how it actually helps you save money in the long run. Worth the read if you’re trying to grasp the full scope!
