I've been one of the lucky few to see this cart in action and I really have to say: It's fantastic. Tim has build some very cool features that can make your workflow so much better, and of course all the standard cart features you'd expect are there. I have not seen the documentation yet, but when that's as much as what comes with UCII then I'd say that it's as good as or even better than UltraCart II (at least speaker as a user, I can't speak as a php technician of course). I'm looking forward to the final demo at the Dynamic Zones Conference!

Thanks for your votes of confidence guys. My overall aim of IntelliCART was to push the boundaries just that little bit further, and so far it seems to have worked!

Though I must say that if it weren't for the encouragement and support that I've had from UDZone, the whole extension developer community and an excellent team of BETA testers, this whole idea would have remained just that, an idea.

Oh and by the way, keep checking out www.rawveg.org as very shortly I am going to put even more screen shots up there ;-)

Excellent News for all the UD-PHP Developers
December 27, 2001 by Faadiel Rehman

Thanks for someone out their eventually developing this extension. I was wondering why the big price tag? It does seem a little expensive for a single developer.

In any event I am sure it will be well supported and well worth the price.

Faadiel,

Why the big price tag?

To be perfectly honest I canvassed opinion on this subject before setting the price. The overall majority of developers felt that considering the feature set of this suite that this price would be justified (some felt it should be higher).

The truth is that IntelliCART has been nearly 5 months in the making, and when finally released it will be the most extensive shopping cart suite yet developed. Considering that a professional developer can make a substantial profit when using this suite to develop an unlimited number eCommerce sites, I felt that the price was fair.

To make it easier for some developers I introduced a 15% reduction for a limited period to (temporarily) bring the price down, and am also looking at educational licensing and volume discounts, though am as yet undecided on these.

Given my known reputation for support, and extensive documentation that will be included with the final release, I believe that IntelliCART represents excellent value for money.

All the best

Can you code an ASP cart if you have the Phakt ASP/PHP Server Model?

PHAkT is purely a PHP Server Model. However, you can always switch to ASP development by changing the Server Model definition for your site.

However, IntelliCART is a PHP-specific Cart System, so you would have to either build your own cart or use one of the existing ASP Cart systems to do an ASP cart.
