Adding and formatting long articles in a DB table

I'm new to PHP and MySQL, and I've been looking everywhere for a tutorial on adding long text or articles into a database, then being able to pull the content into a page I'm working on. Also, when pulling the content back, I've been wondering how I can format it to conform to a stylesheet that's linked on my page. Hopefully I'm not sounding too ignorant on the subject, but I was always told that there's no such thing as a dumb question.  I am looking for code in COLD FUSION that will allow for one instance to be shown in a text field, then when the submit button is pressed and the user returns to the same page, another instance will will be in the field, and it will continue to do this until it reaches the end of the instances then start over again.
