Google Unveils New Photo-Sharing Social Network

Google has begun rolling out a new social-networking photo service, dubbed Photovine. Though Google has said little publicly about Photovine, the service appears to be one in which consumers can take snaps from their phones and have them upload in a stream of pictures in the same way that tweets flow into Twitter. Google's Browser Tops 20 Percent Market Share

Google Inc's Chrome Web browser has grabbed more than 20 percent of global market share, while Microsoft Corp's long-time leader Internet Explorer has slipped below 50 percent, according to Internet statistics firm StatCounter. A sevenfold increase in usage in the last two years is a boost for Google, which is trying to convert its dominance in Web search into operating systems and mobile software, bringing it into direct competition with Microsoft.

Google Disables Realtime Search

Google said that it has temporarily disabled its Realtime search function in the wake of the introduction of its social network Google+. The feature was developed to integrate real-time data from Twitter and other social-networking sites. Google Health and Google PowerMeter are both officially dead, the company confirmed. Google said that the two products were born out of a desire to help put more information at the fingertips of users, but neither saw the level of adoption that made them worth maintaining over the long term.
