Large companies are starting to install upgraded Web analytics tools to summarize and examine data from their growing numbers of second-generation online applications.For years, enterprises have used traditional Web-analytics tools to simply measure page views and keep track of traffic on corporate Web sites.
With the planned Visual Studio 2010 software development environment, Microsoft intends to offer a new editor for visually appealing applications. The WPF effort and other developer-related revelations will be aired Monday at the TechEd developers conference in Barcelona, Spain.
Yahoo has improved its BrowserPlus technology for advanced Web applications and now lets other Web sites use it. BrowserPlus can be plugged into a person's Web browser to make Web-based applications work more like native desktop programs. The most important features are a better upload interface and the desktop notifications.
Microsoft has just put an end to Windows 3.x. As of November 1, 2008 Microsoft has stopped issuing licences for Windows 3.x, which debuted in May 1990.
