O’Reilly CodeZoo
CodeZoo exists to help you find high-quality, freely available, reusable components, getting you past the repetitive parts of coding, and onto the rest and the best of your projects. It’s a fast-forward button for your compiler.
Of course, plenty of source code exists on the net already -- the open source movement has made it easy to find source for nearly any application you might want to build. Making use of all this code, though, can sometimes be as hard as writing it yourself. CodeZoo focuses solely on code that is pre-packaged for reuse, ready for you to take, set up, and get working with your code. The CodeZoo community, through component ratings, tips, download tracking, and more -- makes it easy to sort out the good code from the rest.
On every page, you’ll find links to O’Reilly and Safari content to help you learn more about the components you want to use. From O’Reilly books, articles, weblogs, conference presentations, and more, you’ll have a range of high-quality guidance to make using these components straight-forward and clear.
[We’ve] also partnered with SpikeSource, the leading provider of enterprise support for open source technology, to highlight support packages that can help you use components in business-critical environments. The SpikeSource SpikeBase, which contains a wealth of testing and other information about open source projects, is integrated throughout CodeZoo.
[Our] initial launch contains a directory of Java components, organized into categories so you can easily compare similar projects. If you’re interested in directories for other languages, or if we missed a component you think is great, let [us] know by using the "Feedback" form, linked to on every page.
