Dreamweaver/Mysql/Lotus

My business partner and I are trying to design a web based database using dreamweaver to design the website. We are using Lotus to design the database and MySql to access it. Can you please help us find a tutorial that will detail the steps we need to take to do this? All of the tutorials that we have found so far seem mostly oriented towards Access. If we were using access we might not have the problems that we are having now. At this point we can't even make a connection between MySql and the website. We were able to connect to the database through the "Sql assistant". Do we need to have our server page written to connect the website to MySql? Where does PHP play into all this if at all? Also we are planning on eventually running our system on LINUX. Do we need to look into what this involves from the beginning?

I'm confused, because I don't use or know Lotus at all, so if you could clarify what you mean by ...MySQL to access it...

Do you mean on this site (DMXzone), or just in general?
