Filtered welcome authorized user page
How do I filter individual contents to individual authorized users displayed in his/her welcome page?
How do I filter individual contents to individual authorized users? I have created a login page so authorized users can access restricted pages in my site. But, I would like to enable each user to update/change his/her own profile. How do create/add a filtered welcome page, containing links such as "update my profile", "view my catalog", etc., that pertains solely to one user? I have tried several ways using the filters available in recordset but the results have been either access errors (page not available/accessible) or the entire table of user information displays showing all users' information, which is unacceptable. My Access database has a table of authorized users (containing names, addresses, login, password, access level, etc.), a table called "catalog" which contains all my products, repeated several times because different users picked the same products to build/create his/her own catalog, among other tables. I would like, when a user logs-in, to enable him/her to view and change his/her own profile and access his/her own catalog (not all others' catalogs and info). What am I doing wrong or missing? Is there any model application such as this out there so I can view how it was done? or even use it?
The long story: I’m trying to build a school uniform catalog ordering system. The client has several different schools that she service. Each school has its own separate catalog of uniforms (although the products belong to a main catalog) and they all differ in price because of the logo/embroidery in the each garment. Therefore my idea is: there is one main catalog of products which school administrators use to build their own individual catalog (choosing products, sizes, colors, and embroidery feature). Once a school catalog is built, a school account is created. A sub-account comes along when a student access the site, register as an authorized user and once a registration is done the student/parent is directed to the area that pertains to his/her school only (the above account). In this area the student can change/update his profile and access his specific school catalog to order his/her uniforms online. Once an ordering process takes place, an order history feature is created for this user, which is added as a link in his/her welcome page. The student welcome page should have links to: 1) his/her profile, 2) his/her order history, 3) his/her school catalog. I have gone as far as creating the catalogs, users, etc. but I got stuck and don’t seem able to move ahead at a point where I don’t know how to authenticate each individual user to access his/her own individual information/area and keep getting everybody in the welcome page. In other words, my student welcome page is not filtered with individual user info only and get everybody’s there. I’m not exactly a programmer (have just basic knowledge). I’m a web designer. I have created my school uniform template site and want to be able to offer the described functionality to my client. The uniform online store is great because there is no inventory to be kept as products are ordered based on request or pre-contract. My client is excited with the idea and now I need to fulfill. Anything out there like this I can consider purchasing so I don’t have to build more scratch? The coding is driving me nuts!
Many thanks in advance?
