CD based catalog

I need to build a searchable catalog for publishing to a disk. We would like to send this "CD Catalog" to clients and have it operate as a stand-alone application, browser based, fully functional, and searchable directly from the CD. How can I accomplish this?

This Javascript will do the trick as you can't use any other, server side programming languages as PHP... and since your catalogs content will be static, it suits well to predefine all the pages (results). Although if you have alarge catalog, there's much work and the clients browser could get slow... definitely worth a try!

True, JavaScript, but also Flash, at the farthest Shockwave, would be a usable option.
