Progress window displays with error?

Smart mailer error
I have just setup smart mailer and i can get it to send an email if i type in the email address but once i add a recordset and then tell smart mailer to send an email to the email address in the recordset then i can an error. The first error is in the progress window it says " cannot load progress" and the second error is internal error 500. I have tested to see if the recordset is in working condition by adding a record on the page so it desplays the email address befor submitting the form.
I have no idea why this isnt working. Can someone help? I have been working on this thing for the past couple days and still nothing.
