Studio MX 2004 released Support
Available for download from Macromedia. As we expected, reception has been mixed. The jump from Dreamweaver 4 to MX was massive - it became almost a different product, with decent CSS support, Accessibility, and all the server-side options. This version is definitely an upgrade. The new FTP functionality should please many (including myself) who would be hurling things at the computer while Dreamweaver attempted to upload a site with all the ability and grace of a hippopotomas on a skateboard. The CSS support is excellent if you're doing most of your work in CSS now. Not everyone is pleased, though.
My friend Dierdre is a full-time DW and flash developer in Birmingham, UK. This morning she told me:
"Flash and Dreamweaver are still extremely buggy! Cowboys...whenever I close dreamweaver, it crashes everything else saying "DW exe has generated errors and will shut down". I know it will, that's what i'm trying to do! As for Flash, some really cool "unique features" that completely screw you up if you do a certain permutation of tasks using certain parts of the extensibility architecture, like the XML to UI API, some of it is just clinically buggy."
DMXzone resident Dreamweaver and Flash expert, Allan Kent liked it far more than Dierdre did:
"From the time I've spent working with Dreamweaver MX 2004 so far, it seems to be geared towards getting stuff done quicker. It's nothing revolutionary - you just find things in more convenient and easier to use places than before. Take styles as an example. In MX you have a CSS Styles tab in the Design panel where you can add, edit, delete and apply styles to elements in your document. In MX 2004 the Styles tab is still there for adding, editing and deleting styles, but the apply style option is missing. It now lives as a combo box in the Properties panel.
As a Dreamweaver MX user I've found the transition to MX 2004 quite pleasant. All of my site definitions appeared within MX 2004 and my recently opened files from MX appeared in the new Start page. I also discovered that you can get MX 2004 to re-open any documents you had open when you last closed Dreamweaver. So tomorrow morning when I get in to work I just have to open Dreamweaver and all the documents I was working on when I down tonight will be open and ready to be worked on"

Studio MX 2004 Thoughts
Wow! What can I say? I used Dreamweaver MX for a while before I purchased Studio MX 2004. I'm a Madison Area Technical College student who is taking courses in Flash and Fireworks. I really like the new Start window. It really gives you an easier time when opening your files. As for Fireworks, I have become hooked to it already. So far, I have created two awesome projects with Fireworks MX 2004 and I'm not about to stop using it
Dreamweaver tears
Okay so admittedly I was out all last night and I'm probably a little cranky. But it only now I've sat back and realised how much time I've actually wasted.
okay the ftp doesn't work, something about servert ime, non exisatant folders (leap back into dwmx03 and all is well)
javascript errors on regular occasions becasue it seems that the my resolution is out of the range of what MM term as a Window (Again in previous version)
And now when I switch views, CODE/LAYOUT it crashes without error just dissapears. I know its a terribly complicated piece of software and I understand that there is always errors and bug fixes.
But I was convinced by the trial and I never had any trouble with that why since I offically buy the product do I have these problems
I'm quite tempted to uninstall the licences and send them back
