easy method for retrieving data from database/spreadsheet needed

I want to create an excel spreadsheet (or something similar) with fields that can be called up onto dreamweaver pages. I am sure that PHP and MySQL can do this, but I am having no luck even getting connected to a MySQL database, and when I check out the database on my server, it looks overly complex for what seems to me to be something that ought to be simple. An example: cell 1 cell 2 cell 3 cell 4 column1 SEARS phone Mon-Sat http://www.test.com/images/searsimage.jpg Column2 Wal_Mart email Mon-Sat http://www.test.com/images/walimage.jpg So in Dreamweaver for the heading, I call up For the contact method I call up For the opening times I call up For the logo I call up and it adds the image to the page etc etc. This seems something that should be so simple, that I can't understand why
