Smart Image Processor Tutorials - Installing the server component
Before installing the server component make sure there is no server component installed. If you have ASP.net installed on your server you do not need to install the server component. It is already there. To check if you have a server component installed run the application first with Auto Detect selected in the Use Server Component.
Installing the server component
This tutorial will describe how to install the server component on your computer
or your server.
Important: when you use an external server:
To be able to use this product on an external server, a dll file must be installed
on the server.
When you don't have physical acces to your server, ask your provider if he wants
to install and register the server component (conPictureProcessor.dll).
How to do it
- Install the Smart Image Processor extension
If you haven't installed the Smart Image Processor extension;
Go to the directory where you have downloaded the extension and double click on the SmartImageProcessor.mxp file.
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX opens up the Macromedia Extension Manager. Choose accept to install the extension.
In case you have installed other extensions a popup box might apear. If so choose yes to all or yes to overwrite commonly used files. - Find the conPictureProcessor.dll file
Depending on the operating system and Macromedia software used, this folder will be located in a different place:
Make sure that Windows shows hidden files. In Windows 2000 you can do this by choosing tools then folder options wherafter you choose the tab sheet view. In this menu deselect the options that hide files and select the options that show hidden files.
When you have installed Macromedia Dreamweaver MX:
Go to the hard drive letter where you have installed Macromedia Dreamweaver MX(for instance c:)
Then go to the following directory;
When you are using Windows NT:
C:\WinNT\profiles\username\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\shared\DMXzone\Components
When you are using Windows 2000 and Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\shared\DMXzone\Components (In Windows XP, this folder may be inside a hidden folder).
Other operating systems:
Inside the Configuration\shared\DMXzone\Components folder under the Dreamweaver MX folder in the location Dreamweaver MX was installed to.
Note: when you are using another version than Dreamweaver MX the location remains the same exept for the folder Dreamweaver MX use Dreamweaver + the version.
When you have installed Macromedia Ultradev 4:
Go to the hard drive letter where you have installed Macromedia Ultradev 4 (for instance c:)
Go to the the Configuration\shared\DMXzone\Components folder under the Ultradev 4 folder in the location Ultradev 4 was installed to.
- Copy the conPictureProcessor.dll file to your system(32)
directory on your server
When you have acces to your server:
Copy the file to your Windows system32 or Windows system directory.
It might be necessary to choose the option "show files" in your explorer.
When you use an external server:
Ask your provider to copy the file to his Windows system32 or Windows system directory.
In case of Windows NT or Windows 2000:
c:\winnt\system32\
In case of Windows XP:
c:\Windows\system32\
In case of window 98:
c:\win98\system\
In case of window ME:
c:\winme\system\note: The location of the system directory may differ on your system.
- Register your server component
Register your extension.
1/ Choose run in the start menu
2/ type regsvr32 then a space and then the path of your system32 or system
directory and enter conPictureProcessor.dll.
when you use winnt the menu will display the following text regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\conPictureProcessor.dll
3/ press enter
That's it! If all went well you will see a screen that is simalar to the one below.
