System crash on Ultradev/OS9 to MySQL/OSX connection

December 23, 2001 by Harald Winkler

I'm running Ultradev 4.01 on Mac OS X 10.1.2 in Classic mode (9.2.2), with MySQL and JDBC (mm.mysql-2.0.8) installed.

Connections to external servers work fine via JDBC (jdbc:mysql://...), and also external machines can connect to MySQL on my Mac in the same way.

But when I try to connect from Ultradev to the local MySQL server (using the machine's IP, not localhost or 127.0.0.1, those do not work at all, as your article describes), the  system crashes badly, i.e. halts with the following error:

"Unresolved kernel trap(cpu 0): 0x300 - Data access dar="0x00000070" pc="0x000ef7dc"" etc.

Any idea why and what to do about it?

Your method functions, but i don't have ip adress

I tryed to put the ip noticed in the network control panel when i'm connected to the internet, an it works. But, when i'm not conneced, i don't have an ip ! So i must be connected as long as i work on ultradev. And since i don't have unlimitted access to internet, it's a bit annoying. Have a clue for getting an ip without beeing connected to nowhere ?

Hi Harald. I have the same problem. I have also the kind of crash you described if I just put my machine's IP in the address-field of a browser in classic mode. Did anybody solve this problem by now? Did you
