Microsoft Opens Registration for Windows 8 Upgrade
Registration now open for $14.99 Windows 8 upgrade
Yesterday, Microsoft announced that it has opened registration for its Windows 8 upgrade promotion. Anyone who purchased a Windows 7 machine after June 2nd of this year can register from now until January 31st of next year to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $14.99 — if you miss the registration period, you'll have to pay full price for the new software when it comes out.
Windows 8 is drastically different than earlier iterations of Windows. It's Microsoft's answer to the question of how to integrate mobile and desktop computing and includes features like touch screen ability, fewer icons, and the capability to unify all devices. Since Microsoft debuted its vision for Windows 8 to the world at its Build 2011 conference, the themes that drive Windows 8 slowly gestate. The new operating system applies the lessons of mobile to the personal computer in a way that's absolutely innovative. Connectivity, cloud access to personal files, seamless updates, and a simple interface all come together in Windows 8.
