The Basics: Creating Basic File Listing

In this tutorial we will show you how to list all of the files in any folder and display their size with File Genie PHP/ASP.

How to do it

1. Click the Server Behaviors button in Dreamweaver.

2. Click the Add item button (1), select the DMXzone menu item (2) and from the File Genie menu (3), choose the Folder List menu (4).
    

3. In the Folder List window, enter a name for your list (1) and from the Browse button (2) select your folder.

4. We will sort our files on Filename and select Ascending. When you're done click OK.
   
   

5. In the Bindings menu you will find all the Bindings under the Folder List menu.

6. Select the fileName Binding and now, we're going to add the size of the file.
   
   

7. Click the Bindings button (1), select the size Binding (2) and click the insert button (3).
   
   

8. Select both Bindings that we've added (1), click the Server behavior button (2), click the Add item button (3), and from the DMXzone Menu item (3), choose the File Genie menu item (4). We will use the Folder List Repeater (5).

9. In the Folder List Repeater window, select the Folder List Name (1) that we've created and choose All records to be displayed (2).

10. Now you can save your work and preview the results in your browser.
