Google Chrome Gets Another Security Makeover
Google shipped a Chrome browser update to fix several gaping security holes
Google has released another Chrome update to improve the security of the browser. The latest version of Chrome 17.0.963.56 is now available for Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome Frame. It fixes a number of stability and security issues in Chrome like vulnerability to remote hacker attacks, and also includes a new version of Flash.
As part of its bug bounty program, Google doled out $6,837 to purchase the rights to information on the Chrome security vulnerabilities.
The update also includes a new version of Adobe Flash Player, which was recently updated to cover multiple remote code execution vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. This update of Adobe Flash Player also resolves a universal cross-site scripting vulnerability that could be used to take actions on a user's behalf on any website or webmail provider, if the user visits a malicious website.
