About the Workshop:
Every time you scale, rotate, or distort a layer in Photoshop, you irrevocably damage the pixels. After a few transformations, the layer becomes unusable. But by turning the layer into a Smart Object first, you can perform as many transformations as you like, since the original image is permanently stored within the Smart Object layer.
In this illuminating workshop, Photoshop artist and author Steve Caplin teaches you all the ins and outs of Smart Objects. Professionals and amateurs alike will benefit from the freedom and flexibility offered by this technology.
What You'll Learn from the Workshop:
- Adding editable filters that can be modified even after you’ve closed and reopened the file
- Working with multiple layers within a single Smart Object
- Applying, masking, and customizing Smart Filters
- Placing multiple, linked instances of the same Smart Object
- Creating complex distortions with Image Warp and displacement maps
- Working with movies and Illustrator files
All this is illustrated through a series of projects including an art gallery, a magazine cover, and a can label. Once you've seen the power of Smart Objects, your Photoshop workflow will never be the same again.
The lessons are wrapped in a feature-rich interface that lets you jump to any topic and bookmark individual sections for later review. Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience, and Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window so you can play the videos alongside your application. This course also includes project files so you can follow along and try out new techniques as you learn them.
