40 Job Sites for Designers, Developers and Creatives
Great Tips to find a job as Designer or Developer
Look for design work or are you looking for additional freelance jobs? Linda offers an easy reference for designers, developers and creatives to find jobs on the Internet.
Conclusion
Some of the job sites mentioned above also carry articles about what it's like to work in the design field and what you might need to know. For instance, although HOW magazine's job bank is powered by Coroflot, they also carry information about how to snag that design job. If you feel like you need to go back to school to gain more skills, my old site (under new ownership), Graphic Design Basics, now carries information about various design schools.
While you may have a great resume lined up and you think you look like Brad Pitt (or Angelina, for that matter), remember that – unless you're headed for a sales position – you won't be seen by the general public. Keep a focus on your skills and what you have to offer. That's what the boss wants; unless, of course, that boss likes looking at a Brad or Angelina look-alike. In that case, you might wonder why you were hired and if you'll ever get a raise.
Linda Goin
Linda Goin carries an A.A. in graphic design, a B.F.A. in visual communications with a minor in business and marketing and an M.A. in American History with a minor in the Reformation. While the latter degree doesn't seem to fit with the first two educational experiences, Linda used her 25-year design expertise on archaeological digs and in the study of material culture. Now she uses her education and experiences in social media experiments.
Accolades for her work include fifteen first-place Colorado Press Association awards, numerous fine art and graphic design awards, and interviews about content development with The Wall St. Journal, Chicago Tribune, Psychology Today, and L.A. Times.
