Getting Into Marketing Your Business
Free tools that can push your business to the top
What do you need to do, minimum, to stay on top of social media marketing for your design or development business? In this article, Linda lists free tools that can push your business to the top. The drawback? Your time for learning curves and to maintain activity.
Conclusion
Pulling the social media realm together is not easy, especially when so many venues are available to use. And, I'm a poor example of how to pull together various mediums, as I have multiple personalities on the Web. As a writer and a semi-retired graphic and Web designer, I find it difficult to retain one personality that can push a "brand" that covers a variety of topics that range from death and death care to graphic design and social media and from personal finances to news about Appomattox, Virginia.
For instance, I know that many of you have followed my Twitter account for Appomattox News only to be bored to tears with my Tweets - which have nothing to do with graphic or Web design or Web development.
So, that convergence for my various personalities must occur if I want to expand my business to include employees who want to make money with their writing skills. It also must occur so I can inform readers and/or followers about what I represent so they won't become disillusioned with my intent or my content. To that end, over the next few weeks I'll provide information about what I'm using and how I'm using it to clarify my personal brand.
I hope that my efforts may help you to clarify your brand and marketing efforts as well.
Linda Goin
Linda Goin carries an A.A. in graphic design, a B.F.A. in visual communications with a minor in business and marketing and an M.A. in American History with a minor in the Reformation. While the latter degree doesn't seem to fit with the first two educational experiences, Linda used her 25-year design expertise on archaeological digs and in the study of material culture. Now she uses her education and experiences in social media experiments.
Accolades for her work include fifteen first-place Colorado Press Association awards, numerous fine art and graphic design awards, and interviews about content development with The Wall St. Journal, Chicago Tribune, Psychology Today, and L.A. Times.
