New Skype 4.0 beta makes video calls easier
Internet communications provider
Skype introduced a new beta version of its service Wednesday that
features improved video calling tools and a new interface.
The new application for Windows, dubbed Skype 4.0, is the Luxembourg-based provider's biggest overhaul since its inception almost five years ago and marks a turning point as Skype matures into a polished platform for communications. A Skype 4.0 beta for Mac OS X is not currently available.
"This is the culmination of
listening to users over the last 4 1/2 years and placing some bets on
where communications is going and really helping to lead the revolution
about where conversations are going," said Don Albert, North American
general manager of Skype.
