Flash Media Encoder 2.5 Released with H.264 Encoding
Adobe released version 2.5 of the Flash Media Encoder,
a free live video encoder which connects to Flash Media Server 3 or a
compatible CDN to broadcast live Flash video streams in high quality. Apart from H.264 support the software also supports the commercial AAC Audio Encoder Plug-in, rounding off the capability to deliver high quality live webcasts in Flash.

2.5 software is designed to enable you to
capture live audio and video while streaming it in real time to Flash Media Server software or Flash Video Streaming Service (FVSS). It allows you to broadcast live events and around-the-clock
broadcasting.
Here is a list of the features of the new version:

plug-and-play cameras and microphones, and compatible analog-to-digital
converters
- support for On2 VP6 and H.264 codecs to deliver high-quality footage that provides size and bit-rate flexibility

Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) support in Flash Media Server 3 and Adobe
Flash Player 9 Update 3
- tightly integrated into the streaming pipeline with command-line control both locally and through a remote connection
- auto-restart after power failures or other system restarts helps ensure that your live streams are reliably available around the clock
- auto-adjust feature which enables you to maintain a high-quality video stream in uncertain network conditions
