CSS Image Galleries and Spry controls
Question:
Can I place the gallery in a div container that would be set to "hidden" on page load, and then appear via a Dreamweaver Spry behavior "appear/fade" that would be called from a nav li?
Yes CSS Image Gallery can be used with Spry controls such as: Spry Tabbed Panels or Spry Collapsible Panel.

Even if the gallery is visible i.e. loaded - it is recommended that it only pre-loads just the first 2 images! When the user browses the gallery further then it pre-loads images 2 at the time.
That way you don't have to worry about the hidden galleries.
