Working with the Spry Menu Bar Control

It's time to get familiar with one of the major new features of Dreamweaver – Spry. This is the name given to the new AJAX framework in Dreamweaver CS3 which enables you to drag a series of useful predefined controls directly on to the page. One of these controls is the Spry Menu Bar and this tutorial is going to look at how to use it for best effect and how to use another of the Spry controls – the Spry XML Data Set – in conjunction with it to produce a dynamic and attractive navigation menu quickly and easily.

1. no support or references for Mac users.

2. for people new dreamweaver this lacks any help or links for people who are not used to it.

3. some of the code shown does not look like the code i have so it is a little confusing.

4. no files for download well at least that i can find.

i can deal with the spelling errors since i am not the best at it as well but it could have ad more direction.

ok, you're right, I'm sorry for the spelling dig. Also, I should have made it clearer in the introduction that the tutorial would only work on windows, but I'm glad you got it working using windows on the mac.

1. you do not need to be rude like i said i suck at spelling so the errors are no big deal. but thanks for pointing out all of mine since i have no way of going back and editing i could not change them when i saw them.

2. there are some small difference in the dreamweaver spry code you show and the code DW creates on my mac.

3. when following your directions all i get is failed to get schema from the the dynamic feed.

I know how to program and i am trying to figure out dreamweaver which i am not really liking all that much, which has nothing to do with you.

I just feel that people should not use your tutorial if they are new to dreamweaver and or on a Mac.

After loading up windows on my macbook and installing the DW cs3 demo your tutorial works fine. Which leads to think that something is wrong with my install or an extra step is needed on the mac side when working with ajax in DW. my issues are more with Adobes lack of switching to DW help files and DMX Zone marketing in which I never saw that the tutorial was for windows only and the fact that they stated that i would be directed to download files after i paid for it.
