Need help with editable regions used with a template

Hello, I am a beginner with dreamweaver and have learned a lot but not enough yet. I created a template that I want to use for my site but I need to add an editable region in the main body and I really can't figure out how to do it without messing up the format of all the pages that the template is used in. Please help me out. Remember I am a beginner

If you already have some content or lorem ipsum on the page, then highlight that content.
In the main menubar, choose Insert>Template Object>Editable Region

Are you trying to build a content management system?

No, my site is a mobile dj website, so I just need the main body of text to be an editable region so I can edit on each page.
