Google office API to be released soon
Google new Docs & Spreadsheets service is set to have a set of APIs released that will enable developers to plug-in their own applications. The service, a combination of the Writely hosted word processor and Google Spreadsheets is regarded as a possible competitor to Microsoft Office.
Google product manager Jonathan Rochelle said: "We definitely want to build out APIs, especially for the spreadsheets side, as spreadsheets are more data-oriented, but maybe also for a word processor, people will be able to do mashups with our tools for other things, and not be stuck behind our dev cycle for everything they want."
