Making a download page to sell my ebooks
Need program help...
I just got done writing the copy and setting up my web-site and I finished my ebooks. One I will sell and one I'll given away as a bonus. I'll also give a coupon and a Word doc. to the buyer of the book. Click Bank wants me to make a download page to host the book. I don't know if I want to use them right now though. I looked at PayPal, but if I do I'll have to host my ebook on my site anyway. After the buyer gives the credit card I'll have to get them to a download page. How do you load the PDF file and free downloads I’m offering to the page and make it secure but user friendly? Or does anyone know an easier way of doing this? I'm kind of new at this and looking for a little help here...

I got the answer...
First, place the information you're going to download into its own folder INSIDE your web site folder. Do this on your computer, not inside of Dreamweaver - simply create a new folder inside your site folder, and be sure to name it something strange, such as 349sp13s or some other random series of numbers and letters. After this folder has been created, place a copy of the information you'll be selling inside the folder; when you've done this, you'll be able to upload the folder to your site, just as you would upload any other pages or folders, through your "Files" panel (go to "Window>Files" in Dreamweaver 8).
Naturally, you'll need to create a page with links to the items - this can be the page people are directed to by automatic e-mail after their purchase. You'll also need a list sign up page where people can be directed IMMEDIATELY after their purchase, so they can sign up to receive your download instructions; also, you'll need to create a page
with basic troubleshooting information - which is where people are directed after they sign up and click the "submit" button.
There are some issues here that your web hosting company should be able to answer for you - especially the list sign up and management for purchasers. I use Third Sphere Hosting company simply because all the tools I need are there, at no additional cost.
Next, you will need to be able to password protect the folder which contains the items you're selling, so that people will not be able to download them before they enter a user ID and a password. Once again, this is something you should be able to accomplish with your web hosting company.

Thanks...
Thanks Harold. I spent weeks looking for this answer. Can't wait till your new book comes out on this stuff. Like I said before; your ebook on how to build a web-site in Dreamweaver in 3-6 hours was great and very helpful. I know your new "Tips" book will also be a winner.
Thanks again, MIKE
