Creating a Flash Video Player
Creating a Flash Video Player
The tutorial will cover the following topics:
- Creating a video object and using it to load a FLV file
- Controlling playback with buttons
- Displaying the elapsed time
- Loading a list of videos from an XML document
- Loading a video dynamically from a drop down list
You’ll learn how to create a video object and how to connect it so that you can stream content from an external file. You’ll also learn how to load content from an XML document that populates a ComboBox component.
You can download the resources for this tutorial from the blue Properties box that contains the article PDF. There's a heading titled Code Download and you can click the Details link next to it to get the zip file.

Great tutorial
This was easy to follow and provided a great example for me to get started with a project that will require me to edit the code/xml option further. I really like having information that gives me enough detail that I can make my own adaptations without totally ruining the "working/functioning" version.
However, there is a typo in the PDF:
Pg. 6 (Populating the ComboBox section) reads:
for (var i:Number=0;i
Not working
I know this is cheap but I cannot get thisd code to work..
Script and example missing something major
I was excited to try this tutorial, bought it - but disappointed as it didn't come close to working. and as much as the process is listed, something must be missing.
What's missing? Anyone have info on getting this to work? Perhaps the author?
RE: Great tutorial
Can you send me the fixes that make this work? I do not need more frustrations with action script.
Thanks..send to bill1229@wwmgmt.com
