flash /gif animation

i was looking for a way to test if a browser has flash plugin or not. if it has then i will load a flash banner if not then a gif one. i know i can get the info using java script but my problem is how to pass parameters from java to php. Or is there any other way to do this.

Flash checker

I always thought Flash shipped with a checker by default when you add in Flash elements..? Adding a checker should be straight forward, you might find the Flash or Dreamweaver forums over at Macromedia.com Support pages will give you the answer.

Thanks Grant: yes i know both dreamweaver and flash have that flash pluginchecking capabilities but the only thing you can use that is to lead a flash or non flash page. that is not what i want to do, i want to load only one page but change the images based on the presence /absence of the flash plugin.
