Sometimes it takes a newbie to understand what another newbie is asking so here it is.

1.) Start up Fireworks.

2.) Create a new file. I would stick to setting the size of it to 800 Width X 640 Height.

3.) Begin by drawing what you envision your website to actually look like, even it if it is not right on target at first, no matter, this is just practice anyways.

As you can see in the image below I start with a large rectangle at the top of my page. You can probably get more creative than that.

After you have drawn your page, then click on the web slice tool

After that, you should start slicing your completed drawing. Please note that it is best to slice in a manner similar to the way you would code your HTML tables to hold your content. This will make it easier to modify and update your web page content.

The above picture is before the slicing. The next pictures take place after the slicing.

Notice how I sliced a large rectangle above. Also, take notice at how I created many slices for my final product. I sliced a perfect rectangle over "Home", over "About US" and over "Products and Services". I also sliced 3 sections underneath. 1 under "Home" in case I want to place an alternate menu there. There is also one large slice in the middle for my main content and one to the left in case I want to reserve that for banners, advertisements and what not. Of course you don't have to follow this layout. Don't hesitate to get your creative juices flowing.

Simply after that, just click File > Export. (It should note that HTML and Images will be exported)

Be sure that you click the check box that provides the option to save your images to a subfolder. Usually that subfolder will be your images folder under your root folder. (It is not necessary but it is good practice in my opinion.)

Now, voila, you have your very first site created in Fireworks and exported to HTML. Now the fun part begins by editing it in Dreamweaver or by hand.

Well maybe the response is a year or so too late buy hey I am a new member.
